How it Works

Who can join?
Anyone from ages 1 and up! Toddlers, kids, teens, adults, families; all are welcome.

How do I join?
Sign up at any library in Cheltenham Township Library System between June 16th and August 22nd. It is free to join.

Do I have to have a library card to join?
No, anyone can join, but we encourage you to register for a library card.

What do I read?
Read what you enjoy. Or, listen to someone reading books, comics, graphic novels, magazines, e-books, newspapers, and audio books. It's your choice. You can also find reading suggestions on the library web page.

Do I have to read every day?
You decide how often and how long to read. Just be sure to keep track of the books you read in 30 minute time periods. (See how this works below). Remember, the more books you read the more prizes you earn.

How do I earn prizes?

Read to Me Readers and Read to Yourself Readers - Keep track of the time spent when someone reads to you or you read by completing the reading logs. For every 3 hours someone else reads to you or you read, take your completed reading log to your library branch in the Cheltenham Township Library System to collect a prize.
Read to Me Readers (ages 1-5) - Come into the library to receive a prize for every 3 hours read.
Read to Yourself Readers (ages 6-9) - Come into the library to receive a prize for every 3 hours you read.
Tween Readers (ages 10-12) - Complete book review slips to enter a drawing for an iPod or digital camera. Come into the library to enter the drawing for every book that you read.
Teen Readers (ages 13-18) - Complete book review slips to enter a drawing for an iPod or digital camera. Come into the library to enter the drawing for every book that you read.
Adult Readers - Complete book review slips to enter a grand prize drawing. Come into the library to enter the drawing for every book that you read.

Can someone who can't read join?
Yes. They can earn prizes when someone reads to them.

What happens when I complete my reading log?
Read to Me Readers and Read to Yourself readers turn in your completed reading log beginning on June 23rd, and choose a prize while supplies last. Keep reading and earning prizes until August 29th.

Tween Readers, Teen Readers, and Adult Readers can turn in their book review slips, get more slips, and keep entering the prize drawing.

Can I sign up early?
The earliest you can sign up for Summer Reading is June 16th, and people can continue to sign up until August 22nd.
