What is a Playaway? It is a small audio player pre-loaded with a digital audiobook. No cassettes, no CDs, no downloading. Perfect for commuting, exercise and housework. No discs to change. An entire book is loaded on a device that weighs less than 2 ounces. We provide the Playaway device and one battery (good for 7 hours). Listeners provide (or purchase) earbuds and additional batteries. We have a small collection at both the Elkins Park and Glenside branches. If there is demand for this format, we will purchase additional titles. Let us know what you think!

Science in the Summer

Science in the Summer is a fun and free science education program sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline designed for elementary school children in the greater Philadelphia area. We will be offereing 3 SIS programs this summer. Space is limited to 15 students for each of the Level 1 & 2 classes and pre-registration is required and spaces are assigned by lottery. This year's theme is Genetics and will cover why do people have different colored eyes? what is DNA? and more. Don't miss out. Call your local branch for registration information. Library Food Drive

CTLS and its branches will be holding a food drive to benefit our community during National Library Week, April 13-19. All donations will be given to the Beth Sholom Food Pantry in Elkins Park. The pantry is open to everyone in our community on Wednesdays, 1 to 3 pm. Drop off your donations of tuna, vegetable-based soups, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, non-meat pasta sauces, rice, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables at your local library during NLW to contribute to this worthy cause. Thank you for caring and sharing.
